Aaron Tankersley is an Operating Partner with Altamont Capital, and the Executive Chairman of J.D. Byrider. Founded in 1989, J.D. Byrider is a leading vertically-integrated auto retailer and finance company, with 170 company-owned and franchised locations across 35 states.
Prior to joining ACP, Aaron served as a senior advisor to a San Diego-based family office, operating as a chairman, board member and CEO for several of its portfolio companies. In this capacity, he is the Chairman of toSense, a mobile health device company with an FDA-cleared body worn sensor. In addition, he is Chairman of Amenity Health, a rapidly-growing e-commerce retailer of positional sleeping devices.
Previously, Aaron was President of HSBC Auto Finance, a wholly-owned subsidiary with approximately $13B of assets. He helped execute a turnaround of the business, and subsequently led the company through the financial crisis, when it generated over $100 million of pre-tax income in 2009. In 2010, Aaron navigated HSBC Auto Finance through a complex transaction that included the sale of assets as well as a servicing agreement.
Prior to HSBC, Aaron was a Principal at The Boston Consulting Group, where he led numerous internal and client teams on strategic and operational projects for leading clients in the financial services, technology, and consumer goods sectors.
Aaron earned his M.B.A. from UCLA’s Anderson School, and has both a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University and a B.A. in Management Engineering from Claremont McKenna College. He is a member of The Young Presidents’ Organization and a board member of the San Diego chapter.
