George Orlov is an Operating Partner for ACP focused on all aspects of information technology. He has over 25 years of executive technology leadership experience, with a decade overseeing technology in a private equity portfolio environment that included technology due diligence, value creation, risk mitigation and critical project oversight.
Prior to joining ACP, George was the Global Chief Information Officer for DMGT, PLC and the Chief Technology Officer for dmg::information (DMGT’s portfolio of B2B information companies), where he performed tech due diligence on scores of acquisitions, modernized the products’ technology architectures, accelerated migration to the cloud, evangelized the product management function as a critical enabler of growth, and enhanced the companies’ information security postures.
Prior to DMGT, George held the senior-most technology leadership (CIO and/or CTO) positions at a variety of companies, including Forrester Research, Callisma (startup acquired by AT&T to become AT&T Consulting), Pacific Gas & Electric, and Commonwealth Edison/Unicom (now Exelon), and a decade as a management consultant to the power industry. At PG&E and Unicom, he led the massive technology transformations required to facilitate deregulation-driven industry disaggregation. He began his career developing advanced nuclear techniques to optimize the accuracy of re-entry vehicles and minimize the potential for nuclear materials proliferation.
He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering. He is an avid cyclist.
